Claims

Generally most people know that a claim is made to an insurer or broker following a loss.

Once a claim has been started, a number of processes may occur.  The insurer will evaluate the claim asking the client to complete a claim form.  For some smaller claims, these forms are no longer required.  The information gathered by claim form or by phone is then used to assess whether the loss that the individual or business has suffered is as a result of an insured event.

A loss adjuster may be appointed to help in the assessment of the claim.  They act as a go between from the insurer to policyholder and although they are paid by the insurer, they are appointed to be an impartial party.
